What a great day. USC lost. he he he.
Not only did SC lose, but Stanford too. That Tree mascot has to be the stupidest mascot in College sports. Good riddance.

Hey! If nothing else, the "Tree" is original. Lame, yes...but original.
Michigan took care of Temple ok, but Temple certainly didn't make it easy. Almost as if Temple shot themselves in the foot for the most part. One more game and the final four is set. Hope Arizona can pull it off again. Only Pac 10 team left...
(coughs)
Thats Michigan State, thank you very much. Michigan is the evil school in Ann Arbor. Its like calling UCLA, USC.
Yeah MSU won but damn if they didn't try to lose. They would go up and then collapse. It was insane. But they won (grins)
Y aknow, as much as I wanted an MSU Illinois rematch, a very large part of me is glad Illinois lost. Not because MSU can't beat Illinois but because Illinois didn't deserve to win. 6 players foulded out for Illinois, and it was not because the refs were calling tick tack crappy fouls. The Illini game plan was to foul and fould often. That type of basketball is problematic, too say the least.
Arizona won because it could hit freethrows (half of Arizona's points cameform free throws). Heck, if the Illini game plan was to foul continually, then Arizona deserved to win.
duke is a step-up team. the more dangerous the opponent, the more duke pours on the energy. i don't expect williams to go on another score-a-thon, but the only team that could beat duke would be an extremely physical team that could also keep pace with them for the whole game. duke's main weakness is on rebounds. if time of possession is equal, duke wins every time, period.
Oh.
Sorry 'Crash. I've been programmed. There's only one baskeball team in the state of Michigan, right? I mean, everyone knows it's a three-peat for Michigan State, where as the Ann Arbor group is nowhere to be seen. So, why two words when one does it all? Duke, Arizona, Maryland...
Hey! Who the hell called in the Narn bat squad???
PC grins while calling off the Narn bat squad. "Thats enough boys, Wizz has learned his lesson"
I can't help it the other schools have one name and we have two. Thats just life. (grins)
MSU vs Arizona, this could be interesting. I know who I think is going to win...
iz, I think Duke is going to lose to Maryland. Maryland is on a roll and has had some success against Duke this year. They lost two games but both of them we really, really close. Which means they have more of a clue as to how to shut down Duke then anyone else.
Gee Prof Crash, who could you possibly think is going to win? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
I've got one thing to say, God help us all if it ends up being Duke vsMichigan State for the title. I'm going to run to my basement.
Wait, I don't have a basement.
Better start digging.
*Hides all the china*
You can stop digging GOP!

Well.
What about that Notre Dame vs. Perdue game last night? Man, talk about down to the wire and all. If it had hit overtime, I think Perdue would have pulled it off, too.
One more game to watch...

I find it totally abhorrent that the Perdue fans rioted after their loss yesterday. Makes themselves and their school look really bad.
It's only a frickin game.
Do you really think the game was the reason or that the kids were just drunk and behaving stupid? Trust me, at MSu there were three riots in a year and half period, two occuring after sporting events. None of them had a thing to do with the actual game (I mean, no one would riot after beating Minnesota in football)
Overall, my experience has been, that the kids see rioting as a form of partying. Until there are alot of arrests and people are injured, it doesn't sink in that riots do not equal party. Once MSU busted a large number of folks (over 100) and handed down some severe punishments (like no drinking and a curfew with enforcement) did the riots stop.
Ran it is only a game to you but at most of these schools it is alot more then a game. It is a part of the College Life and experience. At Duke students camp out three nights in advance to get tickets to the North Carolina game. These are bright, well educated kids and theya re willing to camp out for three nights to get tickets to a basketball game.
Hell, you should see how Stanford reacts to its sports teams. Norhtwestern is the same when they actually win.
Not a reason to riot but it is more then a game to many folks. You can think what you want about that but that doesn't change the fact that Saturday night when MSU played so disgustingly bad that I didn't recognize them I was upset enough that I didn't answer my phone, took a long bath, and then drank a beer or two to drown my sorrows.
in case anyone missed the results, here they are:
duke won.
michigan state lost.

Thanks, AsIs, these blisters are killing me.
Now I can't use my Spaceballs quote.

I think you're right, Prof. Riots are a idiotic excuse for a party format. I understand how people can be worked up to spend 3 days waiting for tickets. Just can't see the connection between losing (or winning) and focusing on destruction. How does the affected team feel about a riot they have no control over? Throw the whole rioting lot in jail for a few days, then fine 'em. And make it hurt dollar wise. Car pooling violations are ~$280 per incident. Should particpating in a riot be any less?
Only three days? I know some people who waited 8 months in line for hockey tickets.
My point is that a loss of a game in the long run means nothing. Guess what? Next year, the teams will play again, and again the year after that, ad nauseum. One team will win the whole championship, others won't. Maybe it will be their turn next year, maybe it won't. Whatever the outcome it does NOT give them license to act like criminals...nay, be criminals.... and cause damage to other people's property. Maybe they should have spent some time thinking about that as they waited those three days.
And so it ends.
Pretty well matched teams, Duke and Arizona. Overall, it seemed that Duke was going to get it vs. Arizona. The three-point shot just seemed to be out of Arizona's reach. 10 point game, but it sure seemed closer than that.
Well, there's next year...
